Dwayne Sims has been around the racing community most of his adult life. He acquired his love for the sport at a young age from his dad, Jerry Sims. Dwayne's father introduced his son to racing basically from the crib. In fact, there is (hidden away) a picture taken only a couple of days after Dwayne was brought home from the hospital of him propped up on a pillow, with a model of Darel Dieringer Mercury nestled next to him and an issue of Stock Car Racing in front of him. Thus began his fascination with racing and the Ford camp in particular. ( As they say, the nut doesn't fall far from the tree.)

After several years of working as an official at the local tracks of Lancaster Speedway and Starlite Speedway, Jerry decided to open a small business of his own specializing in racing. Speedway Photo Service was born in the mid 70's. It specialized in hand -crafted model replicas of the cars being

raced at the time as well as racing photos. Through his father's business Dwayne was to meet many of his heroes; Carl Brownell, Billy Causey, James Catoe, Johnie Mangum and others from the tracks in the southeast, and later; Petty, Pearson, and many other NASCAR legends of their day. While not old enough to be directly involved with the business, he followed his dad around the tracks with a camera of his own, trying to learn how to take photos.( Special thanks to Colin Williams for the extra lens back then.) Through those formative years Dwayne learned not only of photography but gained a deep love and respect for the drivers, crews and families involved in all aspects of racing

Nowadays, Dwayne has combined his 3 loves; computers, racing and photography to help bring his views and appreciation of the sport to others. He began at Sugar Creek Speedway in Union SC as track photographer and webmaster of their site. On any given Saturday night during the summer he could be found  throughout the pits or infield, hanging out with drivers, crew member and fans, trying to hide the fact he was actually enjoying himself too much to call this "work". From there, Dwayne moved on to his current track, Laurens County Speedway, where once again he roams the grounds snapping pictures and joking with fans and crew alike. In addition to the track photographer duties, Dwayne will handle weekly commentary and such on this website. Also he will  once more handle the site for Sugar Creek this season as well as Laurens County. Dwayne can also be found on some weekends at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, taking pictures for their website, www.cmpracetrack.com or even trying to bum a ride from one of the drivers.
