Always
Outnumbered
Socrates Fortlow is a newly released convict trying to get
his life back together in South Central. Possessing
a strong set of street smarts, a take-no-bull attitude,
and a head full of wisdom, Socrates tries to help
straighten out the life of a young boy heading down a dark
road, keep a friend from making a mistake in his
relationship, and hold his own life together the best way
he knows how. This movie also features Bill Cobbs,
Bill Nunn and Cicely Tyson.

I sat up to 4 AM one morning to watch this movie.
What impressed me in this movie was how Socrates did his
best to keep it together. Everything from telling a
common crook where he could go, to a boy trying to learn
how to stand up for himself, to advising a local store
manager his rights for employment. It doesn't pull
any punches. This movie goes all the way when it comes to
telling what life on the street is like, and the life of a
former convict. Watch it, watch it again, then watch
it one more time. Because of strong language and
violence, it is not for the faint of heart or for younger
audiences. It is one of Lawrence Fishburne's more
underrated performances. Check it out.
