Tommy
Lee Jones
Born Sept 15, 1946
in San Saba Texas. This Academy Award winning actor (1993- The
Fugitive) is one of only a few actors that can play a diverse
range of characters, yet still bring something of his own
unique flair to each. His list of credits include such
blockbusters as The
Fugitive, Men
In Black, and Small
Soldiers.

"No,
ma'am. We at the FBI do not have a sense of humor we're aware
of. May we come in?"

Cool personified.... that is the
only way I know of to describe Tommy Lee Jones. No matter what
the role he is asked to play, be it an interstellar policeman,
gay New Orleans businessman, or a retired, racist ball player,
Jones always manages to give each his own swagger. It seems as
though in any movie he is associated with, when there is a lull
the director need only to look to Jones and ask him to add
some humorous remark, and the scene is saved.
My first memory of Jones was in
the movie Coal Miner's Daughter, the life story of Loretta
Lynn, in which he played Lynn's husband "Mooney". It
was a beginning of a real fascination for this actor on my
part.
Jones has much of the same
qualities as say a Clint Eastwood in that there are lines in
his movies that only he could deliver. He delivers them fast
and furious with a nearly dead-pan reaction that has become
his trademark. Take for example the character Brad Little in
the movie Firebirds.... who else could have given the line
"Rules of engagement: one, whoever sees the other person
first is the winner; two, whoever gets seen first is toast."
and actually made it work with out being cheesy? Jones
actually has a sense of detachment to whatever is going on
around him that fosters this image of a calm, cool, almost
ice-like manner that makes his lines all the more believable.
With many movies under his
belt, as well as numerous awards such as The Oscar, Peoples
Choice, and Golden Globe this actor comes highly recommended.
If you wish to check out some of his works I would suggest the

"...What I
want out of each and every one of you is a hard target search
of every gas station, residence, warehouse, farmhouse, henhouse,
outhouse and doghouse in that area."
Sam Gerard from the movie The
Fugitive

The first movie I saw this
man in was "Under
Siege" as William Strannix opposite Steven Seagal.
Strannix was a cold, calculating military genius who led a
team of mercenaries to hijack a battleship. This movie
alone would be the start of my respect for this actor. I
became fascinated as to what roles Jones could play. I
had the pleasure of seeing him as (and winning his Oscar for
the role of) Sam Gerard in the movie The Fugitive. His
take-no-prisoners attitude in this movie made his Oscar well
deserved. Although he starred opposite Harrison Ford,
Jones was the star of this show in my book. Another
movie I got to see Jones in that I liked was Men In Black,
with Will Smith. The character K wasn't trying to be
funny, but he was. It is another characteristic that I
like about Jones. He seems to be his funniest when he
is trying not to be. The grizzly I-only-smile-once-or-twice
MIB agent played his part very well. Other
movies I had the pleasure of seeing him in was Firebirds,
with Nicolas Cage, Cobb with Robert Wuhl, U.S. Marshals
opposite Wesley Snipes and in the movie Small Soldiers as
Major Chip Hazard. His personality is through and
through in all of his roles. Unmistakable.
Undeniable. If you are
in the mood of seeing what Jones can do, check out the
following movies:
