Frank Welker

Born February 14, 1935, Welker is considered one of the most sought after voice actors of our time. He carries under his belt a multitude of TV, movie, and cartoon credits too numerous to name. He currently holds the record for most number of characters done in entertainment media, and has one of the most recognizable voices around.

"Why throw away your life so recklessly?"

Megatron (voiced by Frank Welker) in "Transformers: The Movie"

If you’re reading this, you’re probably wondering whom Frank Welker is, and why I have chosen him for this month’s Favorite Celebrity. Frank fits the category of a superstar, because he is a hot property in Hollywood. He has been in more TV, movies, and video games than any other celebrity to date. He has a list of characters too numerous to count, many of which are memorable. He also has one of the best jobs in the world, in my opinion. Again if the name isn’t familiar, it may be because you don’t see Frank on the screen often, but you definitely hear him. Confused? That’s because Frank Welker is a voice actor.

Of all people to feature, why a voice actor? Because of such movies like "Spawn",  "Space Jam", "Deep Blue Sea", "Mars Attacks!", "Jumanji", "The Lion King", "The Pagemaster", and animated shows such as Transformers, G. I. Joe, Duck Tales, Animaniacs, Histeria, Captain Planet, Tiny Toon Adventures-- the list goes on and on. I personally think none of these movies and TV shows would have been possible without him. Whether the character is human, animal, robotic, or alien--Frank has a talent like no other. He is one of the two voice actors who inspired me to take an interest in this career (the other being his friend, Peter Cullen). Check out the ending credits list of the next movie or TV show you watch. There is a good chance you will find Frank’s name listed. His performances will impress you; they already have impressed me.
